If your skin’s been acting up lately — same.

Some days I’m a glowing goddess, other days I’m a dry croissant.

I’ve tested so many DIY skincare recipes (shout out to Pinterest deep dives at 2AM 😂), and these are the 3 simple DIY masks for glowy skin I always come back to…(and don’t make me smell like salad dressing).

3 simple DIY masks for glowy skin

The Hydrating Honey & Oat Mask

This is my comfort mask — gentle, simple, always works. I make this one when my skin feels tight from cold weather or travel — it instantly softens everything.

You’ll need for this DIY mask:

  • 1 tbsp ground oats

  • 1 tsp honey - try to use an organic one, it is better quality. Don’t get fooled with the syrup they usually sell in big-box stores. It is better to invest than apply sugar syrup to your face lol

  • 1 tbsp plain yogurt - you could alternatively use aloe vera gel

How to make it :

Simply mix it all together, apply for 10–15 mins, rinse with warm water.

Why it works :

From personal experience, this recipe is good for locking in moisture, soothing + calming the skin as well as little exfoliating (if you use yogurt). Honey has a renowned antibacterial effect, so it gives a clean and set finish, but of course, avoid it if you’re allergic 🫠

The Brightening Yogurt & Turmeric Mask

This is my comfort mask — gentle, simple, always works. I make this one when my skin feels tight from cold weather or travel — it instantly softens everything.

You’ll need for this DIY mask :

  • 1 tbsp plain yogurt

  • ½ tsp turmeric powder

  • ½ tsp honey - same as the one before, I always use organic honey for better quality.

How to make it :

Mix well together and apply a thin layer on your face. Leave for approximately 10 mins (don’t overdo — turmeric stains… unless you want to look like Marge Simpson, then you go girl!).

Why it works :

Turmeric is known for its anti-inflammatory properties and natural brightening effect. Yogurt gently exfoliates, and honey nourishes and moisturizes.

The Detox Clay & Aloe Mask

This one’s for days when I want that spa-at-home feeling — clean, fresh, glowy. I love doing this one with candles lit and soft music on — it makes the whole routine feel grounding. So set the mood girl! You deserve it!

You’ll need for this DIY mask :

  • 1 tsp French green clay

  • 1 tbsp aloe vera gel (pure)

  • 1 drop lavender essential oil - This is optional. You could also use tea tree essential oil or eucalyptus to really give that spa effect. And be careful! A little goes a long way! Make sure the essential oil you choose is skin-safe and always patch tests.

How to make it :

In a non-metal bowl (this is very important), mix all ingredients together (with non-metal spoon obviously), apply to the skin for 10 minutes. Most clays (like bentonite, green clay, etc.) carry a natural electrical charge and can react with metal, reducing their effectiveness. Go for a wooden, ceramic, glass bowl... anything but metal or stainless steel. Don’t let that thing fully dry, as it could dry your skin due to the clay. Let it always be a bit damp and rinse with warm water.

Why it works :

The strength of green clay resides in its capacity to draw out impurities. Paired with aloe and a bit of lavender, you get a hydrating, soothing DIY mask with a calming sensory touch.

A Few Tips Before You Mask

As a girly with extra sensitive skin, I thought the more the merrier : I used to overdo skincare (daily masking club 🙋‍♀️) and it actually made my skin backfire. But now, I stick to twice a week, and my skin loves me more for it. Here are some little tips if you want optimal results :

  • Always apply on clean skin

  • Patch test new ingredients

  • Use once or twice a week

  • Moisturize after

At the end of the day, it’s not just about glowing skin — it’s about slowing down, taking a few minutes to care for yourself, and remembering that small rituals matter.

Whether you mix these in your kitchen or open a jar from your favorite brand, what counts is how it makes you feel 💛
