The Ultimate Sunday Reset That Keeps Me From Losing My Mind All Week

Updated: 4 days ago

There are two types of Sundays I used to have (and maybe you do too) :

  1. Ignore everything, pretend life doesn’t exist, spiral in the abyss of Tiktok.

  2. Try and do 653 chores, meal prep for 67 hours, cry and finally collapse.

Both equaled ✨ chaos

Fast forward to today, I found a soft, cozy middle ground — a simple Sunday (or Saturday if you’re more of a Saturday type of girly) reset that doesn’t feel like punishment, and actually makes my week feel lighter and calmer.

No strict schedules, no perfection. Just little rituals that make Monday-me say ‘thank you, past me”.

If Sundays feel overwhelming, this might help you build your own gentle rhythm. This is the Ultimate Sunday Reset.

Ultimate Sunday Reset :

Clear the Visual Chaos (5–15 min max)

I don’t deep clean on Sundays — for me, deep cleans are for Saturdays 😂 So on Sundays, I just tidy up and lightly reset the things I did during the day :

  • Fold blankets on the couch

  • Do the dishes

  • Tidy my desk

  • Put clothes in a basket (not letting them pile up on THE chair — you know what chair I am referring to 😂)

Because truly, as I have already said : messy space = messy brain. Even 10 minutes of decluttering makes everything feel softer. It’s like hitting refresh on my environment.

I truly believe that your environment is the direct reflection of your mental state. So if your apartment is always messy… maybe it’s time to have a little chatty chat with yourself babe — and I mean that with all the love I have for you.

Fresh Sheets = Instant Life Upgrade

If I only do one thing… this is it.

Crisp, clean sheets on a Sunday night ? MAMA

That’s self-care. That’s luxury. That’s therapy — and like way cheaper lol

And for a little bonus, I’ll throw a quick load of laundry while watching a show or calling someone I love — cozy + productive = elite multitasking. I usually wash towels at the same time for a complete reset.

Gentle Planning (Not Scary Planning)

Old me planned like a drill sergeant 🫡

New me plans like a soft big sister :

  • My top priorities for the week (usually top 3 is enough)

  • Any appointments or deadlines

  • One thing I’m excited for

That alone calms my nervous system. Makes things predictable and I feel in control. My brain just wants to know what’s coming, not to be micromanaged.

In all honesty, that is something I still struggle to do weekly lol I’ve noticed the benefit of it, but I am still working around it. I do have a problem of letting anything work related in my space when I am in a relaxing and mellow mood. I just don’t want to hear about it 😂 But hey, one thing at a time! This isn’t about being perfectly organized… it’s about giving my brain a soft landing.

Food Prep Lite (a.k.a. Make Future Me Love Me)

One thing I’ve learned from someone who I cared deeply about is “future you will like it” or “do it for future you”. So that is why I do a little meal prep during the weekend.

Let’s be clear here : I do not meal prep 25 Tupperwares and align all my beverages and sort them by colours (I’m more of sorting my clothes by colours and type of shirt kind of person 😂I just do not have 34 different drinks in my fridge — but if you do, goals).

On weekends, I do “minimum effort, maximum relief” :

  • Wash some fruit/veggies

  • Plan meals of the week, even if I don’t cook them yet

  • Pre-prep snacks (This has been life altering as I don’t just open the fridge, stare into the nothingness and just leave with nothing in hands when I’m actually hungry lol)

Even doing one of these makes Mondays less “what do I eat???” and more like “oh past me is the MVP”.

A Ritual Just for Me (the secret sauce)

This is what makes reset feel good instead of just productive. Something that says : “That’s my kind of Sunday.”

It can look like :

  • Long shower or bath

  • Hair or facial mask

  • Cozy book + blanket

  • Watching comfort show + candles

  • Doing sweet nada (also really valid!!!)

Lately — and I’m super grateful I have access to this — I’ve been taking strolls on the beach. I live 15 minutes from the ocean, and walking in the wet sands just hits differently when you're low on energy or just want to take a cup of fresh air.

But the general point is this : do not just clean your space — clean your mind too.

Power Down Softly

As the evening settles, I try to end sloooowwwww :

  • Dim the lights (no OR vibes in here)

  • Light a candle

  • Put the phone away (or die trying I guess ?)

  • Stretch a little

  • Enjoy silence (or soft music if you’re down)

  • Breathe — like actually breathing, not a shallow breath you can barely differentiate from a dying corpse 😂 Speaking of experience here, if you have shallow breath, maybe it’s time to re-evaluate the load on your shoulder babe.

All this just tells my body : “I am safe, I am resting, I don’t need to rush”.

When Sundays Don’t Go As Planned…

Let’s be real : Lord knows some Sundays, I do absolutely nothing.

Some Sundays, I just cry, order takeout, and go to bed at 8pm.

And guess what my friend ? That also counts.

Your reset does not have to look Insta perfect. It just has to support you and your needs.

Some weeks, you’ll do a lot.

Some weeks, you’ll do one tiny thing.

Both are valid.

Resetting isn’t about being productive. It’s about taking care of yourself — in whatever way you can.

Future you will thank you 💛
