Is that ✨autumn✨?
There’s something about this season that makes you crave a little extra comfort — the kind that wraps around you like a big burrito. Evenings get shorter, the air turns crisp, and sometimes, life just feels… heavier, right?
That’s when I turn to my favorite little ritual: a warm, cozy autumn bath. It soothes my body, calms my mind, and makes me feel fully cozy from head to toe. No fancy spa needed — just a few simple ingredients, a dash of seasonal spice, and a sprinkle of intention. Here’s how to create your own cozy autumn bath retreat at home.
Cozy Autumn Bath Steps
Step 1: Set the Mood

Lighting + ambiance = everything.
Dim the lights or light some candles.
Play soft, calming music (or embrace the blissful silence).
Be a little wild and sprinkle a few autumn leaves on the floor or place a small pumpkin near your bath for a seasonal sensory touch.
Your brain needs cues to relax — these are your cues.
Step 2: Spice Up Your Bathwater

Yes, spices! Not for cooking, but for scent + sensory delight (I promise this won’t make you smell like salad dressing).
You’ll need:
1-2 cinnamon sticks or 1 tsp ground cinnamon - essential oil works too.
2-3 whole cloves or a pinch of ground cloves - essential oil is great as well.
Orange peels or 1-2 drops of orange essential oil (optional, for extra coziness).
How to do it:
Boil the cinnamon sticks and cloves in a small pot with water for about 5-7 minutes, then pour into your bath.
Add orange essential oil or orange peel to the bath for that delightful aroma.
Test the temperature — warm, not scalding.
Your skin will love the gentle warmth, and your senses will feel wrapped in fall comfort. Just be careful not to bathe in extra super hot water. This is the perfect way to actually dry your skin.
Step 3: Add Skin-Loving Ingredients

Hydration is key in autumn. Here are some gentle options you can add to step 2:
½ cup oat milk or blended oats (maybe put that in a little muslin bag so that it doesn’t clog your drain — lol, it will soak like tea).
2-3 tbsp honey (moisturizing + antibacterial; I recommend manuka honey).
½ cup Epsom salts (relaxes muscles and softens skin).
Mix these in and swirl them around — instant autumn ✨luxury✨.
Step 4: Optional Extras for Sensory Bliss

These are little extra steps to make it feel like you’re on vacation in a witchy cottage lost in the mountains:
Place a soft towel or blanket nearby for post-bath comfort.
Sip a warm herbal tea or cocoa while soaking.
Put on a face mask while relaxing in your bath (check out my article on autumn DIY mask for dry skin 🍂).
Light a lavender or vanilla candle for aromatherapy (or any other scent; pick your favorite flavor!).
Wear a cozy headband or wrap your hair in a soft towel to feel like a spa goddess.
Step 5: Post-Bath Self-Care

Gently pat your skin dry — don’t rub!
Apply your favorite moisturizer or body oil. I use jojoba oil for optimal hydration, and it doesn’t feel greasy on the skin.
Slip into soft pajamas or a cozy robe.
Take a few deep breaths, noticing the warmth and calm.
Remember, the goal is to slow down. To reset. Let your body and mind feel nurtured.
Autumn baths aren’t just about looking good or smelling nice — they’re about feeling good. About giving yourself permission to pause, breathe, and cozy up for a few blissful moments.
